INTRODUCTION

This report has been written to introduce
you to the concepts of astrology and how to get started with your natal chart.
Astrology is a complex and meaningful science which takes years to study and
apply successfully; however, we would like to whet your appetite with this
report, and encourage you to deepen your understanding through other means.
Astrology is a study of the connection
between planets and life on Earth. It is based on a concept that energy
patterns form between other planets and Earth; and that these energies affect
our lives as individuals and communities.
An astrological chart, also known as a
horoscope, natal chart, or birth chart, records the relationship between the
planets and the signs of the Zodiac. Charts can be calculated for the birth of
a person, a community, an event or anything that seems momentous. The horoscope
is as individual and unique as a fingerprint.
When using these interpretations, please
bear in mind that, inevitably, every chart will contain some contradictory
influences, and as a result certain interpretations of different items in the same
chart may seem difficult to reconcile. However, this may still be an accurate
reflection of your chart, as it is likely that you do experience conflicting
desires, events and circumstances in your life. Usually it is the
responsibility of an astrologer to synthesise these apparent contradictions in
order to present a cohesive and meaningful interpretation of the dilemmas of
the chart.
Please also be aware of the fact that each
person has positive and negative influences in the chart, and therefore in their
lives. The challenge is to accept and overcome the negative influences, so that
we can successfully focus on the positive traits. This report outlines both
influences, and therefore parts may be difficult to accept. Any advice given is
meant to be an aid to a person taking responsibility for their own lives. The
ultimate decision rests with each individual. The author and publisher accept
no liability for any adverse effects of this report.
LIFE GOALS

If you would hit the mark, you must aim a
little above it;
Every arrow that flies feels the
attraction of earth.
Longfellow, Elegiac Verse 1880.
Just as the Sun is the centre of the
Earth's Solar System, so does the Sun play a vital role in your life on earth.
Your life goals are linked to your Sun - its zodiac sign and its position in
your chart. Contrary to popular belief, the Sun isn't the only planet to be
considered in a person's chart, but it is an important component. The Sun gives
you an indication of how you can shine in your life. You will feel truly alive
when you're living the traits indicated by your Sun. Therefore it's likely that
you will spend much of your life on a journey to self discovery, aiming to
incorporate these traits into your life. Understanding the energy of your Sun
is a good starting point to understanding yourself and your purpose in life.
Your Sun is in the tenth house of your
birth chart meaning that you're the sort of person who likes to make your mark
on the world, in particular through your profession. Depending on other
influences in your chart you're likely to be born to parents of good standing
in the community. From this favourable start in life, you're likely to steadily
improve on your status. Success usually comes easily in whatever business or
profession that you choose. People in high places are likely to look on you
with favour, helping you further your ambitions. You're also likely to rise to
a prominent position in society, perhaps even in government office. You've high
moral standards, which you apply to yourself and to other people. Fortunately
your vitality and health are usually good and therefore you're well able to
achieve your goals. You're likely to carefully consider your proposed primary
partner, before entering into a commitment which affects your standing in the
community. As a result, depending on other influences in your chart, you're
likely to benefit through your primary partnership. Ancient astrologers
consider that the Sun is well-placed in the angular tenth house of a chart, and
therefore you're likely to be successful in achieving your goals.
Your Sun is in the zodiac sign of Cancer
indicating that you're a caring and nurturing individual with a strong need for
family and comfort. Like the crab you may appear to have a tough outer shell
but you're vulnerable underneath and will withdraw into your shell and home if
feeling threatened. This withdrawal can happen quite often as you've strong emotional
reactions. These strong emotions can be directed positively into caring for and
protecting others, particularly your family and loved ones. When you're feeling
an emotional equilibrium you enjoy giving to others, sharing warm and loving
moments, and also enjoy your own company. In particular though you yearn to
look after those you love, nursing them through illness, cooking a favourite
meal or curling up in front of a fireside alongside them with a good book. When
upset it is a very different story, you withdraw from company and shield
yourself from hurts, either real or imagined. This can feel like a wall has
gone up between you and the outside world. You've strong home-making urges and
a strong attachment to family members, and your home will be a great source of
comfort to your friends and family. Your protective instincts can also be
roused by animals, and you may find people or animals in need of comfort
arriving unexpectedly on your front doorstep.
The Sun is making a difficult contact with
the planet Saturn in your chart indicating that you have to face some hardships
before achieving your life goals. It's possible that you had a difficult
childhood, experiencing either emotional or financial troubles. Perhaps your
father, or a father figure, was an imposing and restrictive force in your life.
As a child you may have felt imprisoned, unable to communicate your innermost
thoughts and feelings. You may have been frightened to venture forth in the
world. As an adult you may still have difficulty expressing yourself and at
times feel that external circumstances are still somewhat onerous. You're
fearful, worrying about the outcome of decisions and actions. On a positive
note childhood difficulties can become the basis for adult wisdom, particularly
if you're able to overcome your fears.
As you grow older you learn that your natural reserve stands you in good
stead, giving you the ability to stand back and assess situations. Your
confidence grows enabling you to achieve your goals through attention to detail
and hard work.
The planet Jupiter also tells you about
your goals in life, in particular the areas in which you are likely to succeed.
Jupiter is the planet of expansion, abundance and wisdom. Ancient astrologers
believed that the planet Jupiter had a greatly beneficial effect on a person's
life.
Jupiter is also in the eleventh house of
your chart. There's a popular song that has a line "I'll get by with a
little help from my friends", and this could be your theme song. You've
many true and fortunate friends, some who hold prominent positions in society.
Your friends do their best to support you emotionally, and perhaps even
financially, so that you can achieve your life goals. This is fortunate because
you've high hopes of achieving success in your life. You're popular amongst
your friends, a real social success, and the resulting benefits are
considerable. You also like to belong to groups of like-minded people, and
these associations can also prove beneficial. Whether you realise it or not, your
optimism and cheerfulness are an inspiration to your friends, and they too can
benefit from their association with you.
You've the planet Jupiter in the zodiac
sign of Leo in your birth chart indicating that you are benevolent, generous
and fun loving, full of plans and schemes which you hope will make the world a
better place. You've the skills and the will power to carry through these
plans. You're a sincere and honest person who is attracted to a noble cause,
and who isn't afraid to run the gauntlet of difficulties encountered along the
way. Your enthusiasm and courage are contagious and you benefit from your
associations with other people. They warm to your generous nature and obvious
wisdom. You're also full of energy and vitality, generally benefiting from good
health. Children also play a large role in your life, whether they be your own
children or other people's. Teaching children may be a prominent part of your
life. You also have a keen interest in culture, perhaps even displaying talents
in the arts. Certainly your sense of grandeur could be put to good use in the
theatrical or artistic world.
The planets Jupiter and Saturn are making
a beneficial aspect in your birth chart indicating success in achieving your
life goals. You're wise and perceptive, with a talent for creative ideas and
the ability to put those ideas into action. You're blessed with a wonderful
sense of timing, knowing exactly when to make the right moves to achieve a
desired result, whether it be for yourself or for a group project. You've just
the right blend of optimism and realism. For these reasons you can enjoy
success in self-employment or be a valued member of a team. Whether you're
self-employed or not, you work well within a structured system and therefore
can do well in business. It's likely that both conventional and unorthodox
approaches to life appeal, as you understand the advantages in learning from
tradition, as well as the benefits of trying new ideas. You've a chance to be
very successful as you're neither profligate nor mean, but have a balance. This
is a very fortunate aspect. If you don't take your abilities for granted but
use them wisely you can gain great success in life.
HOME

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love he sought me,
And on his shoulder gently laid,
And home, rejoicing, brought me.
Hymn, The King of love my Shepherd is 1868.
Astrologers from different schools of
thought allocate varying meanings to the Moon in a birth chart. Ancient
astrologers say that the Moon changes its nature according to its phases, and
merely passes on impressions from other planets rather than directly
influencing a person's life. However, modern astrologers tell us that the Moon
depicts a person's roots, our home and family. They say the Moon also shows our
habitual nature or subconscious patterns of behaviour which stand in the way of
achieving our life goals. While the Moon can show us our strengths, it can also
depict our weaknesses which need to be overcome in order to be successful in life.
The Moon is placed in the eighth house of
your birth chart suggesting that you have a need to understand the cycles of
life and the metaphysical nature of the world. What happens after death? What
energies are at play in human relationships? and Why do certain events seem to
be synchronised? These are all questions which could be food for thought.
You're sensitive to the emotional undercurrents in many situations and want to
explore this further, even if this means exploring the world of occultism. It's
also possible that you suffered through the death of a loved one, possibly even
the early death of your mother. Your experience opened many doors of enquiry,
which can't be closed. You've the ability to develop your interest in the
occult world and to use your discoveries for practical results in your own and
other people's lives. Although financial gain can't make up for the traumas
that you suffered earlier in life, you're likely to benefit through
inheritances, particularly from your mother's side of the family. This, of
course, depends on other influences in your birth chart. In some cases it's the
lack of financial support during childhood which can deeply affect your adult
life. If this is the case you may seek comfort through other people's resources
- monetary and emotional - whether this is through joint projects or
investments.
With the Moon in the sign of Taurus, the
creature comforts of life appeal to you, offering a safe haven in a busy world.
At times you may have difficulty rousing yourself to face new challenges,
particularly if you're feeling insecure in your life. However, it's only that
routine and familiar surroundings feel so safe in an unpredictable world.
Fortunately you also enjoy establishing order in your life, and this can rouse
you from any temptation to overindulge. In fact you can often be found quietly
sorting through files and drawers, weeding the garden bed or some such useful
activity. Your down-to-earth nature usually asserts itself when needed. You
also enjoy keeping up with traditions - reliable rituals that have been passed
down through the generations giving you a sense of life being reliable and
predictable. Astrologically speaking the Moon is exalted when in Taurus,
emphasising that wonderful ability of yours to establish order.
EDUCATION AND
COMMUNICATION

There is no such whetstone, to sharpen a
good wit
and encourage a will to learning, as is
praise.
Roger Ascham, The Schoolmaster 1570.
Our academic schooling and learning
through life experience are linked to the planet Mercury. This planet stands for the intellect,
common sense, cold reason, commerce and business. It tells us about our
communication and learning habits and our modes of thinking.
The planet Mercury in the tenth house of
your chart signifies that education plays a major role in your life, either as
a student or a teacher. You're a bright, intelligent and capable person who is
considered an asset to your workplace. On the whole it doesn't really matter
what career path you choose. What is important is that your career choice
offers intellectual stimulation. You don't like to be bored. Career
possibilities include writing, teaching, business, sales, media work,
transport, printing and administration. It's also possible that you juggle more
than one job at a time, or that you're a contract worker preferring the
stimulation of different environments to the security of one job and one
workplace. You could be a successful business person, putting your
organisational abilities to good use. You work well in positions of authority,
but are likely to have one person as your superior rather than holding down the
most senior position. You need only to beware of over-committing yourself in
your eagerness to take on a variety of tasks.
The planet Mercury in the zodiac sign of
Cancer indicates that when you're in tune with your emotions and thoughts,
you're a highly intuitive person capable of communicating with clarity and
compassion. However, at times you find it very difficult to find a balance
between your head and your heart. Your emotions are telling you one thing, and
your intellect is telling you another. During these times you can be quite
erratic in your communications with other people, and can benefit from spending
time on your own to make a decision. Education can be difficult unless you're
thoroughly at home with your subject. Otherwise you've difficulty
concentrating. You place importance on keeping the communication lines open
with loved ones, particularly within the family, and may even find that you're
at the centre of family communications. This is wonderful when you're busy
organising a happy family occasion, but not so enjoyable when someone you love
is experiencing a crisis. You do worry so much about your friends and family.
On the positive side you enjoy collecting information about your family and its
background. For instance you may like to collect family photos or study family
history.
The planets Mercury and Uranus are connected
in your birth chart indicating that you've an incisive and ingenious mind. You
enjoy progressive topics in your studies and your communications with other
people. In fact you may be ahead of your time in your thoughts, ideas and
opinions. You're generally successful in your studies because you're able to
communicate your original ideas with ease. Creativity and intuition are second
nature. You're an independent thinker, who likes to be given the freedom to
express your ideas. In fact woe betide anyone who tries to keep you quiet or
change your mind. You make impulsive decisions, some would say rash, but
generally speaking you tend to land on your feet. Your projects tend to reflect
your individual flair, and stand out from the rest of the class or society.
Writing, publishing, advertising, science, astrology and electrical affairs may
all be of interest, although any unusual subject will catch your attention.
The planets Mercury and Neptune are making
favourable contact in your chart suggesting that you've a fertile imagination
which, if encouraged, can lead to success in education, communication and any
creative projects. You're receptive to new ideas and have a resourceful mind.
You may also be inspired by the beauty of nature and the expanse of the ocean.
Although at times you can seem a little vague, it's more likely that you're
lost in a world of creative thought. If left to your reflections, then you're
likely to express your thoughts in an artistic or creative manner. This could
be through art, poetry, literature, story-telling, or music. It's possible that
you possess genius in one of these fields. You're also likely to excel in
medical or spiritual circles, where your heightened sensitivity to other people
can be truly appreciated. You're more likely to follow an unconventional,
rather than orthodox, path if you become involved in medicine. This is because
you're attracted in psychic and spiritual phenomenon. In fact you may possess
psychic gifts in the form of clairvoyance, psychometry, crystal gazing, trance
and inspirational speaking and writing, and prophetic dreams.
The planets Mercury and Pluto are combined
in your birth chart suggesting that your education and communications are
coloured with highs and lows. On the positive side you've a probing mind and
the ability to assess situations rapidly, which can lead to success in your
studies. You're likely to excel in any education process which requires
research and intense work. It's also likely that these gifts will help you
excel in any professional or personal situation which involves counselling or
crisis work. Your insightful mind proves invaluable in such situations. You
enjoy investigating mysteries and probing for hidden truths. Secretive by
nature, you find it easy to appreciate other peoples need for privacy. Your
gift for being able to keep secrets means that other people often confide in
you. It's likely that you've learnt to rely on your own judgement from an early
age. Perhaps a threatening environment, at home, in your neighbourhood, or at
school, meant that your instincts were a vital means of survival. It could also
have been a crisis, ranging from a traumatic change of school or a death, that
led to your ability to see situations clearly and honestly. These gifts can be
used to benefit your adult life, and other people. However, problems are likely
to arise because of your inability to see the lighter side of life, and to
accept that occasionally you might be wrong! You are a deep thinker with
wonderful powers of concentration, but you can become obsessive, seeing only
innuendos and subtleties in communications, rather than the bigger and often
brighter picture. This obsessive side of your nature means that you also tend
to believe that others are opposed to your thoughts and ideas, when perhaps
they're not. You need to battle to overcome your tendency to create conflict
and then seek revenge in such situations by finding a positive outlet for your
energy. For instance you may benefit from writing down your feelings of anger
and resentment, making sure that they don't reach the party involved. If you
believe that you're losing sight of the plot, then seek advice from a trusted
friend or colleague. You are at your most powerful when using your insights for
positive purposes. In particular your honesty and insights can be useful in a
counselling situation, but be careful of taking these talents out of the
consulting room unless invited to do so. Friends and loved ones may not always
appreciate your ability to get straight to the point, particularly if they're
feeling vulnerable or emotionally distraught. You need to learn tact and
diplomacy and sensitivity to other people's pain. Your gifts, combined with
compassion, make you a powerful advocate in any field.
The planets Mercury and Mars are combining
in your chart in a manner which suggest that you and your communications with
other people tend to be fiery. This can be positive, particularly if you're a
spokesperson for a group or person with a cause. You've good intellectual
powers, a shrewd and clever mind. However, you're impulsive and quick-tempered,
and it's more likely that you spend much of your life mopping up after
misunderstandings. Your own perceptions of yourself may be that you're
enthusiastic and perceptive, but others can see you as aggressive and critical.
Without realising it you easily create opposition from other people through
your impulsive actions or sharp tongue. You're talkative and enjoy a fiery
discussion, but inadvertently you're driving others away and forcing them to
adopt your opinion. It's also possible that you're quick to take offence,
believing that others are criticising you when it's you who need to learn
compromise. For these reasons you may have difficulty in your early childhood
education and schooling, and indeed until you've learnt restraint and
tolerance. This is particularly true of risky ventures, which tend to attract
your attention. You need to be more cautious. Otherwise you're likely to suffer
loss through a rash of business deals, law suits and dodgy contracts. You may
benefit from an interest in sports, the military, and business.
RELATIONSHIPS

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love isn't love
Which alters when it alteration finds.
Shakespeare Sonnet 116.
The planet Venus tells about love and
relationships. It reveals the type of relationship we value, and what we are
seeking from our most intimate relationship, as well as how we like to show our
love. It answers questions such as, are we attracted to strong, sensual and
intense relationships? Or do we prefer some freedom and independence? This
planet also depicts how we like to relate to our environment and other people,
not just our primary partner, and how much importance we place on money and
resources.
When the planet Venus is placed in the
eleventh house of your birth chart friendships are an important component of
your life - a great source of satisfaction and pleasure. A popular person, you
enjoy a wide variety of friends from all walks of life, who seem to take up a
considerable amount of your time. Your friendships with women may be more
prominent than those with men. At times you feel that you owe your success to
your friends, and this is probably true. Your friendships are beneficial,
contributing to your happiness and helping you achieve your hopes and wishes.
This may even involve financial gifts or favours. It's also possible that
groups and clubs feature in your life. You enjoy belonging to a group of
like-minded people, feeling supported by the relationships that are formed.
This could involve you taking a prominent role in a group, or simply working
quietly in the background. Either way you're particularly keen on becoming a
member of a group with goals that benefit humanity.
With Venus in the sign of Leo you're affectionate and passionate in your primary relationship, enjoying a sense of play and romance. You're likely to ardently pursue your partner basking in the delights and pleasures of love, particularly in the first romantic stage. Your partner is likely to benefit from your generous and thoughtful nature, enjoying being the recipient of your spontaneous gestures. However, you do like your loved one to show an appropriate amount of appreciation, and your enthusiasm for the relationship is also likely to wane if your loved one doesn't return your affections in full, also showering you with gifts and attention. With the right person you'll take great pride in the relationship, eager to share your happiness with your friends. You enjoy attending social outings where you can take real pleasure in the company of other people. Anything that provides entertainment and fun will suffice, although you may prefer attending arts activities, such as dance, theatre and art galleries. Depending on other aspects in your birth chart, you may be extraverted or introverted in your relationships. Either way it's difficult for others to resist your joyful approach to relationships, and as a result you're likely to benefit through your relationships with other people, in particular through people holding high places in society. You need to make s
